Tent Mountain Mine Re-start Project

The Tent Mountain Mine is an existing, disturbed mine site on Category 4 land approximately 16 km west of Coleman. The site includes unreclaimed dumps, open-pit faces, and large standing bodies of water. Montem is in the process of re-starting the mine.

Small scale underground mining first started at Tent Mountain in the early 1900s and was carried out until the 1940s. In 1948, the first open-cut mine was opened at Tent Mountain and continued until 1983 when operations were suspended.

RECLAMATION BOND

Initial $7,000,000 reclamation bond payable to the Alberta Government before re-starting the mine. The cash bond increases as the mine footprint expands, always covering 100% of the reclamation costs.

The bond is only returned to Montem when reclamation work is completed, and approved by the Alberta Government, hence there is no unpaid liability to Alberta taxpayers.
